Wholesome Hide is made just outside Chicago in a new 30,000 square foot plant and warehouse. The fresh beef hides used in making Wholesome Hide treats are acquired from cattle processing facilities in the Midwest as well as the traditional western states. The hides have never been treated with any preservatives or tanning chemicals as they are kept under refrigeration at all times. After an initial treatment of highly dilute hydrogen peroxide (to kill any germs) the hides are tumbled in fresh water for two hours. Then they are tied or rolled and put on racks for drying in our 2400 square foot drying room. The video below tells you more.
